Developers, start your downloads, watchOS 26 beta 4 just landed, and this one might be a little more important than usual.
Why?
Because this build is very likely the same version Apple will ship as the first public beta of watchOS 26.
The Timing Makes It Obvious
Apple’s been vague about timing, only saying the public beta will arrive “in July.” But here’s the thing: it’s already late July, and Apple just released beta 4. Realistically, unless a show-stopping bug appears, this is the build most users will get when the public beta goes live, possibly within the next 24–48 hours.
And if that holds up, beta 4 will give most people their first hands-on experience with watchOS 26.
What’s New in Beta 4?
So far, it looks like Apple is using this build to lock down stability and squash any last-minute bugs ahead of the public release. That doesn’t mean there aren’t new features, we’re still keeping an eye out, but it’s clear the focus now is less about adding and more about refining.
We could see additional tweaks to Liquid Glass UI elements, which have been slowly making their way across Apple’s OS lineup. But the real story here is performance and polish.
Expect a Pause on New Developer Builds
With beta 4 out and the public beta nearly here, we likely won’t see developer beta 5 until August. That makes this version the one most users, especially non-developers, will live with for a few weeks.
If Apple does spot something serious in beta 4, they might ship a hotfix build. But barring that, this is it.
