A few days ago, leaked photos of iPhone 17 dummies gave us our first glimpse at Apple’s major redesign for their 2025 lineup. Now, new images of different dummies have emerged, revealing some intriguing construction details.
All four models clearly feature MagSafe technology, evident from the distinctive ring of magnets on the back and the alignment magnet positioned below it. But if you look closer at the Pro models – the ones with those distinctive tall, wide camera islands – you’ll notice something special.

The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max showcase a unique cutout surrounding the MagSafe area. Based on previous leaks, this section will likely feature a metal frame (possibly aluminum this time around) with a glass window incorporated into the design. For reference, an older photo circulating online shows what appears to be the iPhone 17 Pro’s frame, giving us a better idea of how this might look in the final product.
This clever design serves dual purposes: the additional metal backing should significantly improve structural rigidity, while the glass window maintains functionality for wireless charging. Interestingly, the standard iPhone 17 and rumored iPhone 17 Air will stick with traditional all-glass backs, eliminating the need for this window design.
This marks a departure from previous iPhone generations where glass backs were universal across all models, as countless teardown videos have shown over the years.
