The Quick Answer: What Do You Need to Run iOS 27?
You need an iPhone 11 or newer. That is the confirmed cut-off, and it means the iPhone 11, which launched back in 2019, gets a seventh full year of major software updates. Software chief Craig Federighi made a point of it on stage, saying Apple “figured out a way to bring it to older models all the way back to iPhone 11,” and that this makes iOS 27 “available to more users than any iOS release ever.” If your iPhone runs iOS 26 today, it will run iOS 27.

Which iPhones Lose Support in iOS 27?
None. For the first time in a few years, Apple has not cut a single iPhone from the supported list. Every device that runs iOS 26 carries over to iOS 27. The only iPhones that cannot make the jump are the ones that were already left behind by iOS 26: the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR, and anything older. The iPhone 11 is now the oldest model that can install the latest version of iOS.
The Catch: Supported Does Not Mean You Get Everything
This is the part the headline compatibility list hides. The marquee feature of iOS 27 is a rebuilt Siri, a more conversational, chatbot-style assistant. It runs on Apple Intelligence, and Apple Intelligence needs newer silicon, so simply being on the supported list does not guarantee you the headline feature. In practice there are three tiers:

When Will iOS 27 Be Released?
Apple previewed iOS 27 at the WWDC keynote on 8 June 2026, with the first developer beta available the same day. A public beta normally follows in July, and the full release lands in September alongside the new iPhone 18 lineup.
