Apple Vision Pro to Launch in Taiwan Just in Time for the Holidays
Apple continues its gradual global rollout of the Vision Pro headset, and the latest stop on its journey is Taiwan. In a press release published on Apple Taiwan’s website, the company confirmed that the highly anticipated Vision Pro will launch in the country on December 17, with pre-orders opening on December 5 at 9 a.m. local time.
This marks the first time Apple’s cutting-edge spatial computing device will be available in Taiwan, and the timing—just before the holiday season—is bound to stir excitement among tech enthusiasts.
Vision Pro’s Taiwanese Debut
Apple’s homepage in Taiwan has already been updated to highlight the Vision Pro, emphasizing its ability to seamlessly blend digital content with the physical world. In the press release, Apple stated:
“Apple announced today that Apple Vision Pro will be launched in Taiwan, with reservations starting at 9 a.m. on December 5 (Thursday) and available on December 17 (Tuesday). Apple Vision Pro seamlessly integrates digital content and the physical world, providing a powerful spatial experience, and changing the way people work, cooperate, connect, revisit memories, enjoy entertainment and other activities.”
The device will start at NT$119,900 (approximately $3,670), slightly higher than the $3,499 starting price in the U.S. Customers in Taiwan will also have the option to purchase optical inserts from ZEISS to accommodate their vision needs.
A Gradual Global Rollout
The Vision Pro’s expansion to Taiwan follows previous launches in South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, China, Japan, Singapore, and select Western markets like Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the UK. Since its unveiling at WWDC 2023, Apple has taken a cautious approach to the device’s global availability, mirroring its rollout strategy for other niche products like the HomePod.
Despite its innovative features, the Vision Pro has been regarded as a premium device for a specialized audience. In a recent interview, Apple CEO Tim Cook candidly described the headset as “not a mass-market product.” This sentiment aligns with reports suggesting that Apple has limited inventory to meet what the company deems foreseeable demand.
A Holiday Gift for Tech Enthusiast
The Vision Pro offers an immersive experience that has captivated early adopters and industry experts alike. Its combination of advanced hardware, intuitive controls, and groundbreaking spatial computing capabilities makes it one of Apple’s most ambitious products to date.
However, the hefty price tag ensures the Vision Pro remains a luxury item. Analysts predict Apple will have manufactured 600,000 units by the end of 2024, reflecting the product’s niche status.
Taiwan: A Strategic Market for Apple
Bringing the Vision Pro to Taiwan underscores Apple’s strategic focus on expanding its foothold in Asia. As a key hub for tech-savvy consumers and home to major tech manufacturers, Taiwan represents an important market for Apple’s most advanced devices.
Pre-Order Details
Tech enthusiasts in Taiwan can secure their Vision Pro starting December 5, exclusively through Apple’s website. Orders will begin shipping on December 17, giving early adopters the chance to experience Apple’s vision for the future of computing before the year ends.
As the Vision Pro continues its measured global rollout, Taiwan joins an elite list of markets offering a glimpse into Apple’s bold ambitions. While the headset may not yet be for the masses, its arrival in Taiwan marks another milestone in Apple’s ongoing journey to redefine spatial computing.
