Get ready to head back to the office.
Apple TV (yep, that’s Apple TV, not Apple TV+ after the rebrand) just confirmed the premiere date for Shrinking Season 3, and fans can officially start counting down.
The hit dramedy starring Jason Segel and Harrison Ford returns on January 28, 2026, kicking off with a super-sized one-hour premiere episode. After that, new episodes will stream every Wednesday through April 8, wrapping up the season with what’s expected to be an emotional finale.
It’s been a long wait, but judging from what Apple’s teasing, and the guest stars lined up, it looks like Season 3 might be Shrinking’s biggest yet.
The Cast Returns – With Some New Faces
Segel and Ford are back in their familiar roles, joined once again by Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell, and Ted McGinley.
And this time, they’re not alone.
Series co-creator and former Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein is stepping in front of the camera with a guest role. He’s not the only new addition either, Damon Wayans Jr., Cobie Smulders, and Wendie Malick will all appear this season, alongside two big names: Jeff Daniels and Michael J. Fox.
Michael J. Fox Joins the Cast
Yes, that Michael J. Fox. The Back to the Future legend will appear in Season 3, playing a man living with Parkinson’s disease, something Fox himself has navigated for decades.
In an interview with People, Fox explained how he got involved.
“I said, ‘You did a show about Parkinson’s, and you didn’t call me?’” Fox recalled, describing a chat with Harrison Ford. “And he said, ‘Oh, you want to do it?’ And I said, ‘I’d love to do it.’ So he went to work on it and came up with this concept — it’s really good.”
For Fox, the role was more than just acting — it was personal.
“It was the first time ever I got to show up on-set and I didn’t have to worry about, am I too tired or coughing or anything,” he said. “I just do it. It was really good, because for the moments when I say, ‘I’m not going to be able to do this,’ then I say, ‘Well, I’ll just deal with how I can’t do it in the scene.’ And you get through it.”
Harrison Ford on Working With Fox
Ford was equally thrilled to welcome Fox to the cast, and deeply respectful of what the actor brings to the show.
“Michael’s courage, his fortitude and his grace, more than anything else, is on full display,” Ford told People. “He’s very smart, very brave, noble, generous, passionate, an example to all of us, whether we’re facing Parkinson’s or not.”
Ford also emphasized how the show handled Fox’s storyline with sensitivity:
“You cannot help but recognize how amazing it is to have such grace… Parkinson’s is not funny. And I want to get it right. It’s necessary to be correct with what we do in respect of the challenge that Parkinson’s represents, and that we don’t use it for its entertainment value.”
Why Shrinking Works
Created by Jason Segel, Brett Goldstein, and Bill Lawrence, Shrinking follows a therapist who decides to break every rule by telling his patients exactly what he thinks, with heartfelt, hilarious, and sometimes chaotic results.
It’s one of Apple TV’s most human shows, balancing big laughs with genuine emotion. With Ted Lasso’s creative DNA behind it, Shrinking manages to make grief, growth, and therapy feel relatable and weirdly uplifting.
Season 2 ended on a high note, both emotionally and in viewership, so the anticipation for what comes next is real.
Apple TV’s Growing Hit List
Apple TV has quietly built one of the strongest streaming lineups out there. Severance, For All Mankind, The Morning Show, Silo, and Foundation all have new seasons on the way. But Shrinking feels special, smaller in scale but bigger in heart.
If you’re new to the series, now’s the perfect time to start bingeing Seasons 1 and 2 before the January premiere.
Shrinking Season 3 lands January 28, 2026, with new episodes every Wednesday through April 8. Jason Segel and Harrison Ford return, joined by an impressive guest lineup that includes Brett Goldstein, Jeff Daniels, and Michael J. Fox.
Heartfelt, funny, and unexpectedly profound, this is one Apple TV series that keeps getting better with age.
