Apple TV+ Just Won the Golden Globes for Mocking the Golden Globes

You couldn’t script this any better.

The Apple TV+ comedy The Studio, which famously skewered Hollywood award shows in its first season, just walked away from the actual Golden Globes with the trophy for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy. And on top of that, Seth Rogen won Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series for his role on the show.

It’s a full-circle moment that feels almost too perfect.

And it wasn’t Apple’s only big win of the night.

Apple TV+ Took Home Three Golden Globes

In addition to The Studio’s double victory, Apple TV+ also won in the drama category thanks to Pluribus.

Rhea Seehorn took home Best Actress in a Drama, finally getting major awards recognition after years of being overlooked for her work on Better Call Saul.

That brings Apple’s total for the night to three Golden Globes, out of 14 nominations announced back in December.

Not bad for a streaming service that’s still younger than most of its competitors.

Not Every Nomination Turned Into a Win

Apple didn’t sweep the ceremony.

Its other big sci-fi drama, Severance, lost out to HBO’s The Pitt in the remaining drama categories. That’s disappointing for fans, but hardly a sign of weakness when you walk away with multiple major wins in the same night.

Season Two of The Studio Is Already Happening

The best part of Seth Rogen’s acceptance speech wasn’t the jokes.

It was the confirmation.

During his Golden Globes speech for The Studio, Rogen revealed that season two goes into production in just one week.

That’s incredibly fast by prestige TV standards, and it tells you everything you need to know about how confident Apple is in the show.

Given how packed season one already was with celebrity cameos, season two is probably about to get even more ridiculous.

The Episode That Made This Inevitable

What makes this moment even funnier is that one of The Studio’s standout episodes was literally about the Golden Globes.

In it, studio head Matt Remick becomes obsessed with making sure Zoe Kravitz thanks him during her acceptance speech. The episode featured a parade of real Hollywood figures, including Adam Scott, Zack Snyder, Aaron Sorkin, and Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos.

Now the show itself has a Golden Globe to its name.

Reality officially lost.

What About Pluribus Season Two?

Apple is already moving forward on Pluribus season two, with writing underway.

However, despite Apple calling it “its most watched show in Apple TV history,” the timeline is long. Filming hasn’t been scheduled yet, and the show won’t return until 2027 at the earliest.

Still, with a Golden Globe win now added to its résumé, the pressure to make season two even bigger just went up.

Closing

Apple TV+ didn’t just show up at the Golden Globes.

It dominated the conversation.

A comedy that mocked Hollywood won Hollywood’s top comedy prize. A drama that flew under the radar got a long-overdue acting win. And two of Apple’s biggest shows are already gearing up for their next chapters.

If there was ever a night that proved Apple TV+ has arrived, this was it.
