It’s official. Palm Royale is done.

According to an exclusive report from Deadline, Apple TV+ has canceled the Emmy-nominated comedy after two seasons.

No season three. No renewal surprise. That’s the end of the road.

That’s It for Palm Royale

Palm Royale never quite broke into the mainstream the way Ted Lasso did — or more recently, The Studio.

Critically, the reception was mixed:

  • 60% on Rotten Tomatoes
  • 6.8/10 on IMDb

But awards voters clearly saw something different.

The show landed 11 Emmy nominations for its first season, including Outstanding Comedy Series. It ultimately won for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music.

That’s not nothing.

A Star-Studded Cast

Part of what made Palm Royale stand out was its cast.

The ensemble included:

  • Kristen Wiig
  • Ricky Martin
  • Laura Dern
  • Allison Janney
  • Carol Burnett

Wiig led the series as Maxine Simmons, a determined outsider trying to claw her way into the exclusive world of Palm Beach high society.

The show blended satire, glossy production design, and character-driven comedy — sometimes leaning into absurdity, sometimes into drama.

Based on a Novel

Palm Royale was adapted from the 2018 novel Mr. & Mrs. American Pie by Juliet McDaniel.

The series premiered on Apple TV+ on March 20, 2024, and ultimately ran for 20 episodes across two seasons.

Season two wrapped earlier this year, with storylines that hinted at further expansion. But according to Deadline, Apple has decided not to move forward.

When contacted, Apple declined to comment on the cancellation.

Why Was It Canceled?

Apple doesn’t release viewership numbers publicly, so we don’t have hard data.

But historically, shows that fail to break into cultural conversation — even with strong casts and awards attention — can struggle to justify large ensemble budgets.

Palm Royale had prestige. It had recognition. But it never became appointment viewing.

And in the streaming era, that often matters more.

The Bigger Picture for Apple TV+

Apple continues to refine its slate, leaning heavily into:

  • Big-budget dramas
  • Prestige limited series
  • Sports partnerships
  • Breakout comedies with broader appeal

As the platform matures, renewals are becoming more selective.

For fans of Palm Royale, this likely feels abrupt — especially given the season two ending left room to grow.

Whether Apple will offer a finale special or extended episode to wrap up loose ends remains unclear. For now, the series ends at two seasons.

Are you disappointed to see Palm Royale canceled — or did it never quite click for you?
