AirPods Pro 3 Leak Just Dropped – And the Hype Is Real

Well, well, well… look who just popped up in Apple’s own software. After months of speculation, it looks like the AirPods Pro 3 are actually happening — and not just in the “my friend’s cousin swears Tim Cook told him” kind of way. We’re talking actual Apple code.

The Leak: Straight From Apple’s Software

The clue came from developer and serial Apple sleuth Aaron Perris, who spotted a fresh string of code buried inside a recent Apple software release. In a post on X (formerly Twitter, yes, we’re still calling it that), Perris showed off a very telling change:
Where Apple’s system used to reference a task that needed “AirPods Pro 2nd Generation,” that requirement now reads “AirPods Pro 2 or later.”

And unless Apple’s just feeling vague for fun, that “later” part is a massive wink toward the AirPods Pro 3.

In other words, Apple is prepping its software for something new, and it looks like the next-gen AirPods Pro are about to join the party.

So… When Are They Dropping?

Let’s not jump the gun — a code reference doesn’t mean an immediate launch. But it does mean the hardware is far enough along that Apple’s laying the groundwork behind the scenes.

There’s always the chance Apple could pull a surprise drop at WWDC, but if we had to bet, the smart money’s on a September launch. That’s when Apple traditionally rolls out the big stuff: new iPhones, Apple Watch refreshes, and yes — fresh AirPods.

Past Pro models both launched in the fall, and this year is already shaping up to be packed with hardware: iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, Apple Watch Ultra 3… so why not throw AirPods Pro 3 into the mix?

What to Expect From AirPods Pro 3

While the leak doesn’t spill specs, rumors point to a new H3 chip powering better noise cancellation, smarter adaptive audio, and probably some slick AI-driven features baked right into the buds. Oh, and we’d bet on better battery life too — because no one’s ever said, “Wow, I wish my AirPods died faster.”

Closing

This might not be an official reveal, but it’s the clearest sign yet that AirPods Pro 3 are real, coming soon, and likely already in testing. The software’s ready. Now we’re just waiting on Apple to hit play.

Will we see them at WWDC? Or are they locked and loaded for September? Drop your best guess in the comments — and in the meantime, maybe hold off on buying those AirPods Pro 2s.
