AirPods Max 2 Are Here - You Can Pick One Up Today

Apple’s premium over-ear headphones have officially landed. AirPods Max 2 are now available in Apple Store locations worldwide, with same-day pickup showing as available at many US and international stores as of today. Customer deliveries have also begun rolling out.

What You’re Actually Getting

The headline upgrade is the H2 chip, the same silicon that first appeared in AirPods Pro 2, and it makes its presence felt. Active noise cancellation is up to 1.5× more effective than the previous generation, and the audio pipeline has been overhauled with a new high dynamic range amplifier that Apple says delivers cleaner sound across the board. Spatial Audio content has also been improved, and wireless audio latency is reduced compared to the first-generation model.

On the software side, the H2 brings a suite of features that AirPods Pro 2 users will recognise: Adaptive Audio, Conversation Awareness, Voice Isolation, and Live Translation all make the jump to Max for the first time.

One genuinely useful addition is the new Camera Remote feature. Pressing the Digital Crown lets you trigger the shutter, or start and stop video recording, directly from your headphones, compatible with Apple’s own Camera app as well as supported third-party apps on iPhone and iPad.

The Things That Haven’t Changed

Battery life remains at up to 20 hours with active noise cancellation enabled, USB-C is still the charging port of choice, and the colour lineup is unchanged: Midnight, Starlight, Orange, Purple, and Blue. Pricing also holds steady at $549 in the US, though Amazon already has a sale running if you’d rather skip the full retail price.

For anyone who’s been waiting on the sidelines, the combination of H2 performance and refined audio makes this a more compelling proposition than it might appear at first glance — even if the sticker price still demands serious commitment.
