Apple's Secret Dynamic Island Strategy Will Shock iPhone Users - Why the Company Is Doubling Down When Everyone Expected I...

About Those iPhone 18 Pro Dynamic Island Rumors… Yeah, Stay Skeptical

Alright, the iPhone 18 Pro rumor mill is spinning again, and this time it’s about the Dynamic Island getting smaller. Cool concept, would love to see it, but let’s actually look at where this stuff is coming from before we get too excited.

A new round of speculation is making the rounds claiming the Dynamic Island is shrinking on the iPhone 18 Pro, complete with CAD images that are getting passed around like they’re proof of something. Spoiler: they’re really not.

What people are claiming

The story goes like this. Multiple “reports” are saying Apple is reducing the size of the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 series, possibly across all models. One of the supposed leaks even includes the line:

“For the iPhone 18 series, the black bezels remain unchanged; only the Dynamic Island has been reduced in size, while the bezels themselves are identical to those of the iPhone 17 series.”

Sounds specific. Sounds legit. Now let’s talk about who’s actually saying this.

The sources are… not great

Here’s where it falls apart. The accounts pushing these claims are sketchy at best.

One of them is using the name Majin Bu, who used to be a reliable Apple leaker before basically vanishing off the face of the internet. Their actual website is still offline, which makes it pretty unlikely this is a legit return. More likely it’s some random impostor riding the coattails of a recognizable name. Oh, and they’re calling it “Nano Island” now, which… come on.

The other source is an account called @earlyappleleaks, and they’re the ones who dropped the CAD images getting all the attention this week. Sounds official, right? Here’s the thing about CAD renders though: they are incredibly easy to fake. Anyone with a free afternoon and basic 3D software can whip these up. They prove nothing on their own.

To be clear, the rumor itself isn’t crazy

Now I want to be fair here. The actual idea of a smaller Dynamic Island isn’t far-fetched at all. Apple has been pretty open that the long-term goal is an all-screen display, with Face ID and the front camera eventually living under the screen entirely. Shrinking the Dynamic Island is an obvious step on that road, and there have been credible reports about this before.

So if Apple announces a smaller Dynamic Island for the iPhone 18 Pro this fall? I won’t be shocked. The question isn’t whether it’s plausible. It’s whether these specific leaks are giving us actual information.

Bottom line

Look, the rumor might end up being true. But “thing might happen” plus “random account on X says it will” plus “fake-able CAD render” doesn’t equal a credible leak. It just means the internet is doing what the internet does.

Stay skeptical out there. We’ll know the real story when Apple shows us in September.
