Apple may have one more iPhone 17 model up its sleeve for early 2026. According to new reports, the company is preparing to launch the iPhone 17e, a more affordable version of the iPhone 17 that still brings several flagship upgrades. If the leaks are accurate, this might be the most capable “e” model Apple has ever shipped.

Here are the three biggest rumored features that set it apart from the iPhone 16e.

1. A19 Chip Brings a Big Power Boost

If you want an iPhone that stays fast for years, nothing matters more than the chip inside it. The iPhone 17e is expected to ship with Apple’s next-generation A19 processor, the same chip powering the standard iPhone 17.

The A19 does not reinvent the CPU, but it delivers solid improvements over the A18 along with a noticeably stronger GPU. Gaming, photo processing and AI-driven features should feel smoother and faster on the 17e compared to the 16e.

Most importantly, this gives the 17e the same long-term performance headroom as Apple’s flagship model. You get the cutting-edge chip without paying flagship pricing.

2. Dynamic Island Finally Comes to the Budget Model

Last year’s iPhone 16e kept the older iPhone 14-style design complete with the notch. With the iPhone 17e, that looks set to change. Multiple reports suggest the new model will adopt the Dynamic Island, replacing the notch with Apple’s more modern cutout.

The Dynamic Island is smaller, cleaner and much more useful thanks to its Live Activities support. You can track timers, music playback, sports scores and app shortcuts right from the top of the screen.

Apple has been working to bring the Dynamic Island to every new iPhone, and the 16e was the lone holdout. The 17e finally brings the budget tier up to the same design language as the rest of the lineup.

3. New 18MP Center Stage Camera for Better Selfies and Video Calls

One of the headline upgrades in the iPhone 17 family was the introduction of a redesigned 18MP Center Stage front camera. Analyst Jeff Pu now says the iPhone 17e will get the same upgraded camera.

This new lens makes a noticeable difference for group selfies and video calls. Center Stage automatically adjusts the framing to keep everyone in the shot, even if people move. It is a clever feature that makes front-camera clips feel more stable and more personal.

For the 17e, this is a big step up from the 16e’s front camera, and it brings one of the iPhone 17’s most useful quality-of-life upgrades to a lower price point.

A Strong Entry-Level iPhone Option for 2026

If these leaks pan out, the iPhone 17e might be Apple’s most appealing budget-friendly iPhone in years. You get the same A19 chip as the flagship, the Dynamic Island design and the newest Center Stage front camera.

The 16e was a solid phone, but this is shaping up to be a much more modern device across the board.
